Abstract

Relying on data from the common pot feast in one of the urban villages of Shenzhen in January 2020, we use the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method to study the social capital generated by activities in the ritual space of the urban village in Shenzhen from the perspective of social relations. The empirical research results based on ritual space and ritual activities show the integration, development and changes of the network of clan villagers and found that organisations with substantial social capital are not all born in the urban village but are linked to the historical development of the indigenous people. This paper not only encourages more active research on the Sinicization of urban social networks but also is an essential reference for urban social governance in China.
