Construction and Research on the Textbook—College English for the Arts by Cross-strait Cooperation and Innovation under the Theory of DBAE

Abstract

Textbook, the main medium of classroom teaching, plays an important role in realizing class objective. College English for the Arts, an essential part in the field of ESP teaching, has its distinct professional characteristics. The theory of DBAE suggests inter-disciplinary teaching and theme-teaching. Its ideological and theoretical core is the theory of "Discipline-oriented Art Education" and "Excellence in Education". This theory advocates the integration of art education with other disciplines, such as language, culture and history. Therefore, we compile the textbook on the basis of the previous points. Through the study of the characteristics of art students, as well as the cooperation of cross-strait English teachers and art teachers, we design and finish compiling the fine teaching material--College English for the Arts, thus to meet the social demand, to improve students' comprehensive qualities such as, art cultural and language skill. We hope it would be a reference to teachers of arts and art majors.
