Abstract
This paper investigated the phonological, syntactic and semantic features of buzzword structure “X Li X Qi”. The results show that the variable “X” mainly appears as monosyllabic words. Sounds articulated close to the palate are always selected as the initial of “X” and front and close vowels are preferred as its finals. As for the tone and Ping & Ze of “X”, Tone 1 and Tone 2 are the most and Ping leads the major. On the part-of-speech and semantic features, adjectives account for the vast majority and X mostly belong to neutral nouns; at the same time, the buzzword structure “X Li X Qi” always expresses positive or neutral semantics, and is seldom used to modify the derogatory events. On the fixed constructs “Li” and “Qi”, we found that “Li” in the buzzword structure “X Li X Qi” pronounce Tone 3, and it has a meaning of “containing and including”, while “Qi”, similar to “Xiang”, can be regarded as a suffix.
