Abstract

The English version of The Governance of China (Volume Ⅲ) is a significant publicity material for further enhancing the international image of China and promoting the culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics to go abroad. The translation of ancient poetry with profound Chinese traditional cultural characteristics and political implications in the book is particularly worth exploring. Translation is a kind of cross-cultural communication. From the perspective of communication, the message in transmission will be affected by various external interferences, namely noise. To achieve a good transmission effect, it is necessary to eliminate the interference, namely noise reduction. Taking the ancient poetry in the English version of The Governance of China (Volume Ⅲ) as examples, this paper analyzes the translation strategies used to reduce the noise generated by semantic differences and explores how to accurately express the connotation of ancient Chinese poetry when translating political documents, so that foreign readers can appreciate the charm of Xi’s language and Chinese culture.
