Abstract

The most notable feature of Van Gogh's paintings, in addition to his distinctive brushstrokes, is his use of color. This essay will examine the artistic expression of color in Van Gogh's paintings. This paper will be divided into three parts to analyze the expression and application of color in Van Gogh's paintings. First, let's provide a brief overview of van Gogh's life. Secondly, this paper will provide an overall analysis and summary of the color expression in van Gogh's paintings, as well as a brief overview of the process he used to express color. Finally, by analyzing the characteristics of color in terms of character and expression, this study aims to apply and express the knowledge and understanding of color in Van Gogh's paintings. The goal is to analyze how the overall atmosphere and emotional message of the artwork are created through the use of color. Van Gogh used pure artistic elements, such as color, to reveal the spirit and convey symbolic meaning. The vibrant color expression in the picture appears to unleash a powerful surge of energy, while the bold brush strokes and harmonious color coordination create a rhythmic effect. This not only fragments the colors, but also conveys the artist's passion. The dynamic relationship between colors depicts the beautiful side of nature and then showcases the boundless happiness and enchantment that colors bring to our lives.
