Abstract
Zhejiang folk opera is an important component of Chinese folk opera. Since the 21st century, Zhejiang folk opera has produced a series of outstanding works after more than a decade of development and refinement. Zhejiang's local operas and folk music have intertwined and merged in the creation of the opera, resulting in folk opera works with a distinct Zhejiang flavor. This paper summarizes and refines the creative characteristics of Zhejiang folk operas since the 21st century, focusing on the creation of Zhejiang folk operas. Before the 21st century, we created excellent classic opera works such as "Sons and Daughters of the Party", "White Maiden", "Sister Jiang", and "Honghu Red Guard", which are still performed and reenacted on the Chinese opera stage today. The significance of the classics is determined not only by the works themselves but also by the extent to which the audience appreciates them. By the same token, audiences play a crucial role in the development of folk operas. As iconic examples of classical folk opera, these works have had a profound impact on subsequent generations of Chinese opera creators.
