Abstract

In 2012, China's film industry showed subtle changes, with the total box office of the Chinese film market surpassing that of Japan to become the world's second-largest box office market. At the same time, the phenomenon of the "New Wave" of cinema change emerged, with a shift in the form of its creative work that has been a milestone, large-scale productions are no longer popular with the audience, and a number of small-scale well-made films are becoming a new phenomenon in the Chinese film market. The emergence of the new generation of directors has broken the long-standing domination of the Chinese film market by the fifth generation of directors. Their different styles of creation have not only enriched the domestic film market and effectively promoted the further development of the Chinese film industry, but also met the creative expectations of the Chinese audience. In addition, the form of film production, on the one hand, co-production, and on the other hand, cross-regional cooperation, has become a new trend in the modern development of Chinese cinema. Film industry policies as well as technological iterations also provide a broad space for the diversified development of film.
