Abstract

Some researchers found that children's perceptions were significant. However, children's voices are often overlooked in the adult world, particularly in academic research. Child poverty is a distinct area of study focusing on children, rather than being merely a byproduct of adult poverty. It should value the perspectives of children. This article critically discusses the importance of incorporating children's perspectives in defining and measuring child poverty. Before the discussion, it is necessary to clarify some terminologies, such as the definition of poverty, measurement of poverty, and child poverty. In the definition of poverty, the social inclusion and environment surrounding children are illustrated and discussed. Children's perspectives are discussed in the uni-dimensional and multi-dimensional measures of poverty. After comparing the significance and limitations of children's perspectives in defining and measuring child poverty. It is noted that children's perspectives are valued, but also reveal a lack. The researchers should rigorously consider children's perspectives and control the variables.
