The Art of Chinese Suona Performance from an International Perspective: An Exploration of Cross-cultural Communication and Educational Value

Abstract

Suona is actually a foreign musical instrument from the Western regions. After thousands of years of evolution, it has strong Chinese national characteristics and plays an important role in the history of the development of Chinese national Musical Instruments. The suona music originated from temple music, folk tunes, and opera. It absorbed the essence of Chinese folk music and became an indispensable part of Chinese folk music. In the international perspective, the Chinese suona performance art in the international cross-cultural communication, showing the diversity, complexity, times and other characteristics. Starting with suona performances to explore the educational value of Chinese suona art can expand the transmission of contemporary Chinese suona culture and enhance its integration with education. In cross-cultural communication, we should enhance the education and promotion of Chinese suona performance art worldwide to increase its international visibility and influence. This will facilitate the ongoing communication and integration of contemporary Chinese suona performance art with the international community. This paper analyzes the opportunities and challenges of Chinese suona performance on the international stage and proposes some countermeasures. It aims to offer valuable suggestions for promoting the spread of Chinese suona performance globally.
