Abstract

The genesis of digital technology has changed the outlook of traditional artistic works. Modern printing technology is rapidly advancing by including traditional aesthetic designs in its road. This work focuses on exploring the Traditional Chinese Folk Woodcut Motifs and their recreation and reproduction, thus creating a contemporary textile design. This artistic integration has enriched the form of digital printing in textile printing. The work explains the usage of computers as well as human-assisted ways of creating impressions on textiles using woodcut motifs of popular Chinese signs, symbols, and emblems. The imagery way of creating motifs using AI-based models is also discussed here. The work also focuses on the design considerations to be considered while creating motif-based designs in digital technology. Also, the limitations of this transformation are discussed, paving the way for the introduction and innovation of new technologies that could effectively recreate traditional artistic works.
