Abstract
Young teachers in colleges and universities are the backbone of the development of higher education, and their professional development ability directly affects the teaching quality and personnel training. Through a comparative analysis of the current situation of professional development of young college teachers in China and the United States, this paper discusses how to improve the professional development ability of young college teachers in China. It is found that there are some gaps between the young teachers in Chinese universities and the young teachers in the United States in the aspects of teaching concept, teaching method, and scientific research ability. In order to narrow the gap, Chinese universities should improve the training mechanism of young teachers, strengthen the updating of teaching concepts, encourage the innovation of teaching methods, provide scientific research support, and create a good academic environment. At the same time, young teachers should take the initiative to learn, have the courage to practice, and constantly improve their professional development ability to contribute to the cause of higher education.
