The Historical Evolution and Dissemination of Dai Le Language Used by Dai Zhang Ha Artists

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the historical development and popularization of the Dai Le language employed by the Dai ethnic Zhang Ha artists in the context of art anthropology and ethnomusicology. The Dai Le language is one of the ancient Dai ethnic languages which has profound historical and cultural significance based on literature review and field studies, the authors explore the historical background, process of formation, and changes of the Dai Le language, with emphasis on its use in the Dai ethnic music, particularly among Zhang Ha performers. The paper also describes the paths of development and the problems that the Dai Le language encounters in the contemporary world, as well as the ways to preserve and develop it. The findings of the study show that the Dai Le language is not only a component of the Dai ethnic culture but also a component of the Dai ethnic identity where its protection and inheritance are of great importance for the preservation of the Chinese ethnic cultural diversity. Through enhancing cultural education, cultivating inheritors, and applying modern technology, the Dai Le language will be revived in modern society and continue to perform its cultural role.
