Abstract
Process pedagogy is a student-centered educational approach that has gained increasing emphasis in high school English writing instruction in recent years. This paper explores the fundamental principles of process pedagogy and its practical application in writing instruction by analyzing the current state of high school English teaching. It begins by outlining the core features of process pedagogy, highlighting the multiple stages involved in the writing process rather than solely focusing on the final product. Subsequently, it examines the challenges present in current high school English writing instruction, such as students' lack of motivation and monotonous teaching methods. Furthermore, it elaborates on five key strategies of process pedagogy in practice: clarifying writing objectives, guiding autonomous and collaborative learning, providing immediate feedback, encouraging reflection and revision, and fostering interdisciplinary learning. Through illustrative analysis, it demonstrates that process pedagogy can effectively enhance students' writing proficiency and self-expression skills.
