Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of art activity workshops designed for individuals with disabilities affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Through in-depth interviews with 13 participants, the research revealed that workshops incorporating a variety of activities, respect for participant autonomy, and comprehensive support systems played a crucial role in alleviating stress, enhancing self-esteem, reducing social isolation, and fostering the development of new skills. The findings align with existing literature while offering fresh insights into the critical importance of a supportive environment and the value of skill-building opportunities in post-disaster recovery contexts. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and the short-term nature of its evaluation. Future research should aim to address these limitations by expanding the participant pool, employing a more diverse range of data collection methods, and implementing long-term follow-up studies to better understand the sustained impact of such interventions. These steps would provide a more comprehensive understanding of the workshops' long-term benefits and contribute to the development of more effective support programs for disaster-affected populations.
