Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has become a major chronic disease because of its high incidence, disability (death) rate, and heavy disease burden. Good self-management is the key to the success of prevention and control of the disease, but due to various reasons, patients face many difficulties in the process of management. The rapid development of e-health provides a new way for this problem. E-health literacy can improve people's health behavior and self-management of patients with chronic diseases. E-Health literacy refers to an individual's ability to search, locate, understand, and evaluate a variety of health information from electronic resources, and to apply the knowledge gained to solve health problems. The article introduces the concepts related to e-health literacy, describes the current situation of e-health literacy, and uses the e-health literacy model as a theoretical guide to synthesize the influencing factors of e-health literacy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in terms of personal (sociodemography such as age, gender, marital status, place of residence, income, etc.; personal skills on self-assessment and Internet use), situational (health problems such as the severity of COPD, dyspnea and symptom burden, Emotional states such as self-efficacy, aging attitudes, technophobia) and environmental factors (media environment such as computer literacy, social environment such as social support) with the aim of providing a basis for further relevant research and exploring effective interventions of enhancing the level of e-health literacy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, improving the adverse health outcomes, and improving the quality of life.
