The Impact of Krashen Input Hypothesis on English Listening Teaching

Abstract

As one of the four language skills, listening is an important part of English teaching in senior high school. With the development of listening teaching and the new curriculum standards, more and more high school students are eager to improve their listening ability. However, for most Chinese high school students, their listening skills are still relatively poor. Linguist Krashen's second language acquisition theory has exerted a profound influence on second language teaching and provided practical theoretical guidance for English teaching in China. Input has become a key to listening, learning, and teaching, and the most famous and influential theory on second language input is Krashen's Language Input Hypothesis. It emphasizes the importance of large amounts of comprehensible language input in language learning. This paper aims to comprehensively summarize the current research progress and analyze the relationship between Krashen's language input hypothesis and English listening, in order to find some useful teaching enlightenment for English listening teaching.
