Abstract

Film work relating to travel, a form providing means for exchange across different cultural contexts, shows important value for developing images that represent locations in conditions where interaction occurs across the world. Issues appear in this process that include separation between content in films and the values that characterize locations, differences in how target populations understand concepts, and limits in the forms that film work uses to present travel locations. These factors affect how images of locations reach different populations. This analysis examines the main issues that occur in film work relating to travel, considers the significance of combining approaches across cultural contexts and developing content that shows innovation in films, and examines the role that using multiple means for providing information plays in improving images that represent locations. Findings from this work suggest that success in film work relating to travel requires not just the level that film work achieves but also variation in the means used to provide information and specific connections with how populations perceive content.
