Author Bio

Li Qianju, born in 1957, from Changsha, Hunan province. A distinguished expert receiving special government subsidies from the State Council, he serves as the president of the Chinese Fuzzy Language Research Association and is a second-level professor (retired) at Hubei Normal University.

Graduated in December 1981 from the Chinese Department of Hunan Normal University (Class of ‘77), and was a domestic visiting scholar at Beijing Normal University’s Chinese Department from 1990 to 1991, studying under Professor Wang Ning. Previously a professor in the Chinese Department at Xiangnan College (also serving as a member of the Hunan Provincial Political Consultative Conference and a standing committee member of the Chenzhou City Political Consultative Conference), he has held positions including director of the Journalism and Communication Department and the Chinese Department at Hunan University of Science and Engineering (also serving as vice chairman of the Yueyang Tower District Political Consultative Conference). Additionally, he was director of the Linguistics Research Center and the National Studies Research Center at Hubei Normal University, director of Hubei Normal University Linguistics Research Center (a key research base for humanities and social sciences in universities of Hubei Province), director of National Studies Research Center (Hubei Normal University Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base).

He has published over 140 papers in numerous journals, including Literary Research, Guangming Daily, Journal of Beijing Normal University, Research on Folk Literature and Characters, Liyun Linguistics, Nankai Linguistics, Hunan Social Sciences, Research on Classical Chinese, Journal of Hubei University, Lexicographical Studies, and Rhetoric Studies. Some of these papers have been fully reprinted in Linguistics and Philology and Middle School Chinese Teaching by Renmin University of China, and excerpted in the National University Humanities Abstracts. He has published over 20 works in fields such as Chinese classical studies, exegesis, Classical Chinese, studies on Explanation of Script and Elucidations of Characters, rhetoric, fuzzy linguistics, and literary creation. Three of these works have received Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Social Sciences in Hunan and Hubei provinces.

About the Translators

Zhou Guijun is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Foreign Languages of Northeast Normal University, as well as a Fangwu Young Scholar of Northeast Normal University. He concurrently serves as a member of the National Steering Committee for the Education of Postgraduates in Professional Degrees in Translation, the Chairperson of the Teaching Steering Committee for English-related Majors in Higher Education Institutions of Jilin Province, the Chairperson of the Translation Work Steering Committee of Jilin Province, and the Vice President of the Bilingual Studies of Chinese Traditional Culture Branch of the Chinese Pre-Qin History Society. His main research directions include the translation and dissemination of classics, language contact andevolution, English-Chinese rhetoric and style, etc. He has presided over 5 national-level projects, including 2 key projects of the National Social Science Fund. He has published more than 60 papers at or above the CSSCI level in over a dozen academic journals.

Qiao Yizhuo, Ph.D. Candidate, National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education, Beijing Foreign Studies University. Research interests include Translation Studies and Systemic Functional Linguistics.
