Dear Colleagues,
Climate change has emerged as one of the most pressing challenges to global food systems, with far-reaching consequences for both food safety and food security. Rising temperatures, shifting precipitation patterns, and increasing frequency of extreme weather events are altering agricultural productivity, contaminant pathways, and food supply chains. Understanding these complex interactions is crucial for developing adaptive strategies that ensure safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for present and future generations.
In this special issue of the International Journal of Food Science and Agriculture, we aim to examine the multifaceted impacts of climate change on food safety and security. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that investigate climate-related risks to food systems and propose innovative solutions for mitigation and adaptation.
We invite researchers and practitioners to submit original research articles, reviews, and perspectives related to climate change and food safety. We are particularly interested in papers that address the following topics:
• Climate change and emerging foodborne pathogens
• Temperature variability and food spoilage risks
• Extreme weather events and food supply chain disruptions
• Droughts, floods, and their impact on food production safety
• Climate-induced mycotoxin contamination in crops
• Ocean warming and seafood safety concerns
• Adaptation strategies for resilient food systems
• Policy frameworks for climate-resilient food security
Manuscript Submission Information
Authors should submit their manuscripts for the special issue by emailing them as an attachment to specialissue@hillpublish.com or by using the online submission system. The manuscript should be submitted by one of the authors, and submissions by anyone other than the authors will not be accepted. Additionally, the submitted manuscript should include a cover letter that specifies the special issue to which the manuscript is being submitted.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). The submitted papers should be properly formatted and written in fluent English. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Guidelines page.
