Dear Colleagues,
As global demands for food, energy, and water continue to rise, the need for sustainable and integrated approaches across key resource sectors has never been more urgent. Agriculture and aquaculture are vital for feeding the world's population, while energy systems power every stage of production, processing, and distribution. However, these sectors also face increasing pressure from climate change, resource scarcity, and environmental degradation.
This special issue aims to explore the intersection of energy, agriculture, and aquaculture through the lens of sustainability. It seeks to highlight innovative research, technologies, and policy approaches that promote efficient resource use, reduce environmental impacts, and support longterm resilience. Topics of interest include:
• Renewable energy applications in agriculture and aquaculture
• Energy-efficient farming and aquaculture systems
• Integrated food–energy–water systems
• Sustainable land and water management practices
• Circular economy solutions (e.g., waste-to-energy, nutrient recovery)
• Climate-smart agriculture and aquaculture
• Policy and governance strategies for sustainable integration
We welcome a variety of contributions including:
• Original Research Articles – Presenting novel data, methodologies, or case studies
• Review Articles – Offering comprehensive overviews of specific subfields or technologies
• Short Communications – Reporting significant preliminary findings or insights
• Policy Analyses – Discussing implications for energy agriculture governance, regulation, and planning
• Case Studies – Highlighting innovative or exemplary practices in specific regions or sectors
All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure scientific integrity and relevance to the special issue theme.
By bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives, this special issue encourages novel insights and practical solutions to advance sustainability across interconnected systems of food and energy production.
