Dear Colleagues,
As the volume and complexity of digital data continue to expand, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to preserve, analyze, and interpret cultural heritage has become increasingly critical. Digital humanities stands at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for understanding and safeguarding the diverse cultural expressions of humanity. This special issue aims to explore the intersection of digital humanities, big data, and cultural heritage preservation. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, technological innovations, and theoretical frameworks that enhance the documentation, conservation, and interpretation of cultural heritage in the digital age. Topics of interest include:
• Big data analytics and visualization in cultural heritage research
• Digital archiving and long-term preservation strategies
• Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for heritage analysis
• Semantic web and linked data for cultural heritage integration
• Ethical and legal considerations in digital heritage preservation
• Community-based and participatory digital heritage projects
• Digital reconstructions and virtual heritage environments
• Policy and sustainability models for digital cultural heritage initiatives
We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
