As global food supply chains grow increasingly interconnected and complex, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to detect, assess, and manage emerging food safety risks has become increasingly critical. Food safety science and regulatory governance stand at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for protecting public health and ensuring consumer confidence in food systems. Meanwhile, the evolution of food production and trade presents both unprecedented opportunities for safety enhancement through technology and significant challenges in harmonizing standards, addressing novel contaminants, and maintaining effective oversight across borders.
This special issue aims to explore the intersection of food safety, emerging risks, standard-setting processes, and governance frameworks. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, technological innovations, and policy models that enhance the design, implementation, and adaptive management of robust food safety systems. Topics of interest include:
• Emerging chemical, biological, and physical hazards in global food supply chains
• Interdisciplinary frameworks for food safety risk assessment and early warning systems
• Equity, access, and capacity disparities in food safety infrastructure across regions
• The evolving role of public-private collaboration in food safety standard development

We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
Manuscript Submission Information
Authors should submit their manuscripts for the special issue by emailing them as an attachment to specialissue@hillpublish.com or by using the online submission system. The manuscript should be submitted by one of the authors, and submissions by anyone other than the authors will not be accepted. Additionally, the submitted manuscript should include a cover letter that specifies the special issue to which the manuscript is being submitted.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). The submitted papers should be properly formatted and written in fluent English. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
