As global environmental changes and trade disruptions increasingly threaten food systems, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to assess, adapt, and strengthen food security strategies has become increasingly critical. Agricultural economics and supply chain resilience stand at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for understanding vulnerabilities and enhancing adaptive capacity across interconnected food networks. Meanwhile, the convergence of climate shocks and geopolitical tensions presents both unprecedented opportunities for systemic reform and significant challenges in ensuring stable access, stabilizing prices, and maintaining nutritional quality for vulnerable populations.
This special issue aims to explore the intersection of food security, environmental stressors, trade policy, and resilience building. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, analytical innovations, and strategic frameworks that enhance the design, implementation, and adaptive governance of food systems under compound disruptions. Topics of interest include:
• Climate-induced production shocks and cascading effects on global supply chains
• Interdisciplinary frameworks for integrating climate, trade, and food system models
• Equity, access, and social protection in food-insecure regions amid disruptions
• The evolving role of trade agreements and regional cooperation in buffering risks
• Ethical and resource allocation considerations in crisis-driven food distribution
• Real-time monitoring, early warning systems, and decision support for food security
• Comparative studies on food system resilience across geopolitical and ecological contexts
• Policy and institutional capacity building for sustainable food security governance
We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
Manuscript Submission Information
Authors should submit their manuscripts for the special issue by emailing them as an attachment to specialissue@hillpublish.com or by using the online submission system. The manuscript should be submitted by one of the authors, and submissions by anyone other than the authors will not be accepted. Additionally, the submitted manuscript should include a cover letter that specifies the special issue to which the manuscript is being submitted.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). The submitted papers should be properly formatted and written in fluent English. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
