Digital Health: Telemedicine, Wearables, and Health Data Governance

Dear Colleagues,

As the adoption of digital health technologies continues to accelerate, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to develop, evaluate, and govern telemedicine, wearables, and health data systems has become increasingly critical. Clinical informatics and digital health policy stand at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for expanding care access and enabling continuous, patient-centered monitoring. Meanwhile, the integration of connected health devices presents both unprecedented opportunities for remote diagnosis and personalized care and significant challenges in ensuring data interoperability, addressing algorithmic biases, and maintaining patient privacy and clinical validity.

This special issue aims to explore the intersection of digital health, telemedicine, wearable technologies, and health data governance. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, technological breakthroughs, and integrative frameworks that enhance the design, implementation, and responsible deployment of digital health solutions. Topics of interest include:

• Machine learning and statistical methods for wearable and remote monitoring data

• Interdisciplinary frameworks for integrating digital health in clinical decisions

• Equity, access, and representation in telemedicine and connected care cohorts

• The evolving role of clinicians and informaticians in digital health delivery

• Ethical and algorithmic fairness in digital health risk prediction models

• Data sharing, consent management, and patient agency in digital health

• Comparative studies on digital health performance across populations and diseases

• Policy and workforce development for sustainable digital health integration

We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
